Comedian Russell Brand wants you to come see him and Sarah Silverman perform stand up next Sunday at the Wiltern for free. Well, there’s a catch. Of course there’s a catch. But it’s a good one: all you have to do is volunteer some “love,” and as J. Lo said, love don’t cost a thing.
Brand’s Love X-Change promises a free ticket to the Dec. 11 show in exchange for a commitment to serve two hours of community service in the L.A. area. Just head to his Facebook page and sign up to serve at one of six local charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Rootstrikers, the Friendly House, The Art of Elysium, the Los Angeles Food Bank, or the Los Angeles Animal Alliance. Once you do, a ticket to the show will appear magically in your email inbox.
It might be tempting to just sign up for the free show, then ditch the volunteer work, but Brand advises against it. “Definitely do that two hours of work you committed to,” he says, “because karmically it’s bad not to, and plus, we know where you live.”
