Here’s Your First Look at Cinespia’s 2016 Summer Movie Lineup

The organization kicks off its landmark 15th season at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on May 14

Watching movies atop the buried remains of Hollywood’s elite might sound strange, but Cinespia’s movie series at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery has become an L.A. summer staple. For the last decade and a half, tens of thousands have flocked to the Fairbanks Lawn from May through September for a night of movie viewing en plein air. If it’s too smoggy to see the sky, you might catch some stars of another sort; David and Victoria Beckham, Elijah Wood, Justin Timberlake, and Patricia Arquette have all been spotted at past screenings.

As the first and longest running outdoor movie series in L.A., Cinespia will kick off its milestone 15th anniversary season on May 14, but don’t wait until then to get tickets—last summer, every one of the events sold out. Buy your $15 tickets stat at cinespia.org, and check out the much anticipated May lineup, released today:

May 14: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Party on with the students of Ridgemont High with this 1982 cult classic, starring Judge Reinhold, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Sean Penn.

May 21: The Silence of the Lambs

Watching director Jonathan Demme’s Silence of the Lambs is even creepier when you’re in a dark cemetery. Bring a brave friend to see the 1991 thriller that pits FBI agent-in-training Clarice Starling against psychopathic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

May 28: Singin’ in the Rain

If we can’t have actual precipitation, rain on the silver screen will have to do. Director Stanley Donen’s classic musical gives viewers a glimpse into a silent film company’s first talking picture.

May 29: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Cinespia will host two movies during the last weekend in May. After seeing Singin’ In The Rain on Saturday, come back Sunday to crush some Reese’s Pieces of your own while watching E.T. do the same on screen.
