With an annual audience over one million, the Los Angeles Philharmonic is a musical cornerstone for Los Angeles culture. Founded by William Andrews Clark Jr., a multimillionaire and amateur musician, in 1919, the orchestra is approaching its 100th season.

Renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel brought much attention to the association when he came on as music director in the fall of 2009.

During its winter season (October – June) the Philharmonic plays in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the striking downtown concert hall designed by Frank Gehry. The Philharmonic spends its summer season (July - September) performing at the Hollywood Bowl, an outdoor amphitheatre in the Hollywood Hills.
