At this Sunset Strip hideaway, chef-owner Kris Yenbamroong aims to replicate the open-air markets of Thailand. The result is a festive late-night departure from the fine-dining experience next door at Yenbamroong’s Talesai. Spare decor and concrete floors create the minimalist allure of an art gallery. Diners watch foreign films projected onto a whitewashed wall; across the room they gawk at erotic portraiture. At the communal tables, a mix of clubbers and families nosh on Thai street foods like spicy grilled hog collar with chili dip and skirt steak laced with lime and red onions (described as “devastatingly hot”). Tiny bowls of tom yum soup are passed around as patrons drink craft brews from Laos.
