Susan Feniger's Street didn't remain closed for long. Weeks after shuttering her global-cuisine restaurant, the famed chef transformed the space into Mud Hen Tavern, a casual gastropub inspired by her Midwest childhood. Although the new bill of fare drops several notches in ambition—homey dishes like the spinach-potato pierogis and the lamb meatballs are decent but unremarkable—it hasn't deterred regulars from filling the bar during happy hour. Stick to hold-overs from the Street days, such as coconut jam-brushed kaya toast and pan-seared corn accented with pork belly and scallions.
