Best Marble and Exotic Stones, August 2011
Those flags from many nations in the main warehouse at Marble Unlimited aren’t for show. This decades-old business imports from 30 countries, the most of any supplier in L.A.’s Mesopotamia of rocks, the San Fernando Valley. Blue marbles from Brazil and Africa, green quartzite from Norway, precious lapis lazuli from Chile, and labradorite from Madagascar are among the unusual choices. If a stone can be turned into large-scale decorative art, owner Steve Lieser stocks it. The onyx gallery alone is worth a visit.
