Smack in the middle of Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade, this open-air café and wine bar—an offshoot of the Farmers Market favorite—focuses on French comfort food for hungry shoppers on a mid-afternoon break. Cheese, anyone? Diners can choose from such regional gems as Petit Basque, a sheep's milk from the Pyrenees, and Bucheron, a semi-aged goat's milk native to the Loire Valley, for a build-your-own tray. Entrées like Dover sole with fresh squash are passable. We come here for small snacks and lovely wines by the glass.
