Best Shoe Salesperson, September 2006
A good shoe seller understands the meaning of “must-have”—waiting lists or lilliputian feet shouldn’t keep you and your Chloé platforms apart. Better yet, he or she foresees and can wrangle the next hot shoe, like a YSL snip-toe ankle boot, six months before it gets past customs. While Neiman Marcus certainly employs footwear legends, Robyn Pearlman at Madison Fred Segal in Santa Monica remains the litmus test for outstanding shoe salespeople. Pearlman e-mails recommendations to customers, hunts down the perfect match for any frock, and keeps particular clients in mind when buyers order for the next season. Working alongside Madison’s Joi Davis and Heather Subotnick, Pearlman is currently prepping for this fall’s “3 P’s”: platforms, pumps, and patent.
