Best Party Supplies, March 2005
All we have to do is walk through the Vine American Party Store
to feel reason to rejoice. For more than 40 years the crowded emporium—down the street from Paramount Studios—has sold every party good imaginable, from tiki torches and ukuleles for luaus, to hot-flash fans for good-humored middle-age birthdays, to fake clapboards, reels, and mini statuettes for Oscar to-dos, to a kaleidoscope of Mardi Gras beads. One room is packed with paper goods in shades Crayola has yet to tackle. The store proves that anything can be celebrated, including good service—don’t hesitate to ask the friendly staff for help.
