Best Tango Club, May 2007
Your obsession with Dancing with the Stars has motivated you to brush up on your tango. But where to bailar your heart out? At El Baron , the Salvadoran restaurant where on Wednesday nights the newbie-friendly Culver City Milonga takes place (milonga is an Argentine term for “tango salon”). The club has several rooms with tomato-colored walls and serves pupusas to chatty regulars at the bar. To make the most of the live music that starts at 9:30, take the $5 dance lesson that Yolanda Rossi and Miguel Cardoso begin an hour earlier. Once the Los Angeles Tango Trio starts up, Rossi prods shy partners onto the floor.
