When one Italian restaurant closes on San Vicente, another opens in its place. The pair behind Ado in Venice and Casa Ado in Marina del Rey has taken over where Osteria Latini left off. The room is farmhouse sparse—except for that canary yellow wall—but thanks to partner and Hollywood producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, you can count on famous faces to spruce up the joint. Fat asparagus is the high point of an otherwise forgettable veal scallopini. The pastas don’t quite match the dreamy stuff down the street at Vincenti, but twirling the pappardellewith wild boar ragù reminds us of Rome, even if it’s the Grateful Dead—not Pavarotti—on the sound system.
