Achadinha Cheese Company
Petaluma
Capricious
This is an aged, crumbly, drier style of goat cheese that has lots of flavors—grassiness and fresh flowers—and complexity.

Bellwether Farms
Petaluma
Carmody
They milk Jersey cows there, and the sweetness and milkiness make this cheese a great choice when you want something simple to munch on.

Laura Chenel’s chèvre
Sonoma
Chabis
Laura Chenel is one of the original artisan goat cheese makers of the late ’70s. The Chabis has a clean, sweet, grassy flavor.

Redwood Hill Farm
Sebastopol
Bucheret
This is another goat but a little drier and more aged than the Laura Chenel Chabis. Bonus: Redwood Hill offers tours of the farm by appointment.
