Fat Uncle Farms takes a more rustic California approach to Italy’s beloved chocolate-hazelnut condiment. The almond farm, located in the San Joaquin Valley, starts by subbing its plump roasted almonds for hazelnuts. The precise amount and grind of nuts, honey, and cocoa powder also varies by the jar (“We play around,” says co-owner Nate Siemens). Yet another reason to buy two.
