When the town of Irwindale sued Huy Fong Foods, makers of everyone’s favorite hot sauce, over complaints that the emanating pepper fumes from its factory were causing skin and eye irritation, fans began to worry about a possible Sriracha shortage. The sigh of relief came last week when the Los Angeles Superior Court rejected Irwindale’s initial bid to shut down production. As stress builds toward a November 22 hearing date, at which Huy Fong Foods’ fate will be determined, people have been searching high and low for a solution.
