Lola’s on Fairfax Ends 17 Year Run

September 8 is the restaurant’s final day.

Lola’s, the West Hollywood hang-out best known for its mid-’90s decor and claim to fame—the invention of the Apple Martini—is set to shutter on Sunday, September 8. Henry Eshelman, the restaurant’s public relations rep sent word to press earlier this week, with a eulogy that explains that owner Loren Dunsworth is moving on.

It’s business as usual at Lola’s until after Labor Day. Then, hours of operation are limited to Thursday, September 5, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday and Saturday September 6 and 7,: 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.; and Sunday, September 8: brunch only; from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pour one more out for this once hot WeHo spot. With a clown like Henry Eshelman promoting them, I can see why business ran dry.

Sounds like cause for celebration (but not at Lola’s). The racist owner was keeping the ethnic origin of the week out of her establishment for years; the neighborhood will be better off without that kind of hatred in their midst.
