Bo Nuage, Komodo Venice, Plan Check Fairfax, and More New Restaurants

These are the new and notable restaurant openings of the week

Mid-City: It seems L.A. will never tire of colorfully chic treats. Bo Nuage on Melrose (whose name is a play on the French words for “beautiful cloud”) is the newest patisserie on the bakery block. Owned by Pascal Achcar and Audrew Achcar of the ‘Lette family, they specialize in gussied up macarons called nuage cakes, which feature two meringue wafers both filled and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Flavors from red velvet to passionfruit go for $6 a cake; $72 for a dozen. » 8010 Melrose Ave., 90046, 310-880-2065

Fairfax: Starting today, Plan Check Kitchen + Bar’s Ernesto Uchimura is bringing his signature burgers, fried chicken, and condiment leather to the Fairfax District. Stop by for the salmon pastrami (new to this location), and stay for drinks by cocktail chef Matthew Biancaniello of the Roosevelt Hotel. » 351 N. Fairfax Ave., 90036. 310-288-6500 ext. 2

Venice: Next Monday, Komodo opens a second brick-and-mortar location in Venice/Santa Monica. The space, designed by MASS-Architecture, honors Komodo’s food truck roots with a ceiling fixture made of hanging paper trays and a handwritten chalk menu board. Find all the old Asian-fusion favorites here, including blazin’ shrimp, loko modo, and kimchi nachos. » 235 Main Street, Venice, 90291
