If you’ve been waiting for the right time to transform your regular old lawn into a succulent wonderland, it’s now. Mayor Garcetti today announced an increase in the rebate rate LADWP customers will receive for replacing grass with California-friendly landscaping through the Cash in Your Lawn program. Effective immediately, qualified homeowners will be rebated $3.75 per square foot of lawn for projects up to 1,500 square feet in size. To qualify, LADWP customers simply need to apply for a rebate and receive approval before reaching for the rakes and shovels. The rebate increase is part of Garcetti’s plan to reduce water use citywide by 20% over the next three years—and to beautiful results.
