Security Officials at LAX Fail to Detect Loaded Gun in Bag
TSA officials found a loaded, undeclared handgun when it fell out of a bag being loaded onto an Alaska Airlines plane. The gun owner was detained temporarily and eventually permitted to board a later flight to Portland. The gun was turned over the Los Angeles police.

Family: Downey Police Killed the Wrong Man
31-year-old Michael Lee Nida was fatally shot by Downey police officers after they responded to a report of an armed robbery at a nearby Bank of America. Nida matched the description of the robber but was unarmed. His family says that he was getting gas with his wife and was approached by officers as he crossed the street. Nida leaves behind his wife of fourteen years and four children.

Three Arrested in Counterfeit iPhone Parts Ring
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced three arrests Sunday after a three-month long investigation. Two men and one woman were arrested on charges of possessing counterfeit products (including rear panels, phone covers, and chargers) with the intent to sell. The suspects were booked and are being held on $100,000 bail.

Ex-Wife of Salon Shooting Suspect Remembered
The funeral service for Michelle Fournier, one of the eight people killed in the Seal Beach salon shooting, was held Monday morning in Los Alamitos. Fournier was the ex-wife of the shooting suspect Scott Dekraai. Funeral services for other victims of the salon shooting took place over the weekend including salon employee Christy Wilson and hair stylist Laura Webb, who was shot and killed while doing her mother’s hair.
