Road Runners: Your L.A. Marathon Street Closures Guide
Attention drivers! To accommodate the 24,000 runners expected to hit the pavement for the L.A. Marathon this weekend, many main roadways and freeway exits will be closed on Sunday. Arranged by neighborhood, here are the major traffic changes to be aware of:
Hollywood Blvd. will be closed from Hillhurst Avenue to La Brea Avenue from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Orange Avenue will be closed from Hollywood Blvd. to Sunset Blvd. from 4:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sunset Blvd. will be closed from Highland Drive to Doheny Drive from 5:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. San Vicente Blvd. will be closed from Sunset Blvd. to Melrose Avenue from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Santa Monica Blvd. will be closed from La Cienega Blvd. to the Sierra Drive from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Santa Monica Blvd. will be closed from Wilshire Blvd. to Sawtelle Blvd. from 5:00 a.m. to 2:04 p.m. Sepulveda Blvd. will be closed from S. Santa Monica Blvd. to Wilshire Blvd. from 5:00 a.m. to 2:04 p.m.
San Vicente Blvd. is closed from Wilshire Blvd. to Ocean Avenue from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, San Vicente Blvd. & Montana will open at 2:36 p.m., San Vicente Blvd. & Bristol Avenue will open at 2:52 p.m. and San Vicente Blvd. & 18th Street will open at 3:08 p.m. Ocean Avenue is closed from San Vicente Blvd. to Pico Blvd. from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Here are some suggested alternate routes from ASICS:
- For Chinatown access via N 110, exit Solano Ave
- For Chinatown access via S 110, exit Solano Ave For North of Sunset Blvd (Echo Park, Elysian Park, Silver Lake) access use: N 101, exit Silver Lake Blvd or Glendale 2 Fwy
- For Downtown LA access via S 101, exit Alameda St or use S 110, exit 4th street
- For Union Station access via S 101, exit Alameda St
