Startled this morning by the hum of helicopters overhead and a lineup of fire engines along Wilshire Boulevard near the Los Angeles magazine office, I headed downstairs and across the street to see what the ongoing commotion is about.
Here’s what I found out:
A diver was deployed in one of the pits at the La Brea Tar Pits this morning to conduct a search for the LAPD. According to Lieutenant II Andy Neiman, officer in charge of media relations, this search was to retrieve possible evidence associated with a homicide investigation. Officials believe the evidence in question may have been dropped at this location. This effort was part of a joint task force between the LAPD and other outside collaborators.
