Treasures From The Brand Art Library Go On Sale
The grand Moorish-style estate of Glendale pioneer Leslie Brand was built in 1904 and became an art library in a park in 1956. Two years ago the Brand Art Library closed for a major overhaul and the restored mansion is set to make its debut early next year. Some of the treasures culled from the fabulous library will be sold at a special benefit sale on November 16th. The Art and Music Book Sale at the big brutalist central library in Glendale includes rare records, original art, and original serigraphs from midcentury artist Robert Brown. One year I saw a guy load up an entire dolly with vintage issues of Arts & Architecture magazine. This is one of my favorite sales, and I always leave with an armful of goodies.
