Vintage Matchbooks From Classic L.A. Places: Miceli’s

Pizza was still considered exotic when Carmen Miceli opened his Hollywood restaurant in 1949. A few years later, when the nearby Pig ‘n Whistle cafe shut down, Miceli made a deal to relocate the elaborate interior woodwork to his pizza house on Las Palmas. Sixty years (and thousands of Chianti bottles) later the décor is still intact, opera singers still belt out tunes, and the oven is still turning out those delicious pies.
