Vintage Matchbooks From Classic L.A. Places: Pacific Dining Car

The last time I was in the Pacific Dining Car, I stayed past last call and left at 5 a.m. Love this place! The velvet and brocade and polished wood of the original (and the 23-year-old Santa Monica branch) are comforting and friendly and wonderful. The staff always knows just what you need, even if you do not. Yes, I really would enjoy a newspaper with my breakfast, thank you very much. The original restaurant is housed in a replica railroad car built in 1921. Two years later, owner Fred Cook moved those steel wheels to 6th and Witmer and a legendary L.A. restaurant was born.
