Q: What is the little flower logo that appears in the credits of every movie?

A: That “flower” is a five-sided shield representing the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, a labor union that has ensured safe conditions, sick pay, and job security for showbiz folks since the vaudeville era. Trademarked in 1917, IATSE’s logo has appeared onscreen since 1937.
