In the January 2009 issue, we named the top 10 new restaruants of the year. We were lucky enough to have Octavio Becerra—chef/owner of Los Angeles magazine #1 new restaurant, Palate—as our guide through four of Southern California’s leading small organic farms. Together, we saw the land, felt the soil, and—most importantly—met the people behind the ingredients that inspire not only chef Becerra, but many of the city’s top toques.
