The Marimba Eroica—one of American composer Harry Partch’s custom-designed instruments—takes center stage at this concert featuring the works Plectra and Percussion Dances and Dance Pantomime (Kin Oedipus). The Grammy-nominated group Partch shows off the 847-pound beast, which is eight feet long and generates tones even lower than those of the bass marimba.
