Erika Anderson

A native Angeleno, Erika Anderson is an Emmis and Los Angeles veteran, serving as Advertising Director of the magazine from March 2002 – July 2004, and in sales and management roles with Emmis Publishing National Sales from 1995-2002. Most recently, she served as Los Angeles Manager of Golf magazine and Golf.com (2007- 2010 ). She has also worked as West Coast Director and Los Angeles Manager of Life magazine (2004-07). She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a bachelor's degree in English.

Mary Melton

Melton came to Los Angeles magazine as a senior editor in 2000, became executive editor in 2002, and was named editor-in-chief in 2009. She has overseen the magazine’s theme issues, edited features and service stories, written personality profiles and popular culture pieces, and directed the launch of the magazine’s Web site, LAmag.com. Under her leadership, Los Angeles won two National Magazine Awards in 2011 from the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME)—for General Excellence and Feature Writing—the first in the magazine’s history. Two more ASME nominations followed in 2012. Prior to Los Angeles, Melton was an editor and writer at the Los Angeles Times Magazine, from 1995 until 2000. She began her journalism career as an intern at the L.A. Weekly, where she was later appointed managing editor. A fourth-generation Angeleno and a graduate of Hollywood High School, Melton holds a degree in history from UCLA. Follow her @MaryMeltonLA.

Matthew Segal

Matthew Segal is Executive Editor of Los Angeles magazine, where he oversees a range of stories, from business columns to investigative features to service packages to travel pieces. His writing for Los Angeles includes personal essays, travel pieces, profiles, and societal stories. Before becoming Executive Editor, he held the positions of Features Editor and Managing Editor at the magazine. Segal was formerly Managing Editor of Buzz Weekly and Senior Editor of Men’s Fitness. As a freelance writer, he wrote for Outside, GQ, and Details, among other publications.

Steven Banks

A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, Banks worked at Spin magazine before returning to his hometown and designing for Boston magazine. He moved to Los Angeles in 1990, and worked at the Los Angeles Times at the paper’s Sunday magazine. Banks joined Los Angeles in 2006.

Ann Herold

Herold was at the Los Angeles Times from 1983 to 2007, and was managing editor of the Times’ Sunday magazine for 16 years. The Santa Barbara native has written extensively on her hometown and on homes and gardens, food, travel, and sports, and won a James Beard Foundation Award for a piece that appeared in Saveur magazine. She is also a senior lecturer in journalism at the University of Southern California.

Julia St. Pierre

Julia St. Pierre joined Los Angeles in 1993. She oversees the production and printing of all pages of the magazine, as well as ancillary and custom publishing projects. St. Pierre also covers music for both Los Angeles and LAmag.com. Her career in print production has also included stints at LA Style magazine, Austin Homes and Gardens magazine, and trade publications and advertising agencies.

Nancy Miller

Miller joined Los Angeles magazine in March 2012. She edits magazine features, cover packages, and the Buzz section as well as oversees editorial development in print and online. Prior to joining Los Angeles, she was West Coast editorial director at Fast Company and a senior editor at Wired, where she covered the intersection of culture and technology. Before that, Miller was a music and film writer for Entertainment Weekly and a producer/correspondent for KCRW. Over the course of her career, she’s lived with Ozzy Osbourne, served as a juror at the Sundance Film Festival, and been a contestant on the Price Is Right! Her favorite neighborhood in Los Angeles is Fairfax Village.

Amy Wallace

Wallace is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Elle, Men’s Journal, the New York Times Magazine, The Nation and Conde Nast Portfolio, the business magazine where she spent nearly three years on staff as a Senior Writer. Previously, she spent 14 years at the Los Angeles Times and four years as a Senior Writer at Los Angeles magazine where she returns as Editor-at-Large. Her 2001 profile of the Editor-in-Chief of Daily Variety was a finalist for both the National Magazine Award and the Gerald F. Loeb Award.

Elina Shatkin

As a food writer and restaurant critic for the L.A. Weekly, Shatkin was best known for her “30 Days” missions, in which she reviewed the same item (burgers, sandwiches, ice cream) from a different restaurant for 30 consecutive days. Before that, she was a staff writer for the Calendar section of the Los Angeles Times and the events and festivals editor for the paper’s short-lived Guide. Shatkin has been a contributor to the book EAT: Los Angeles, film editor of LAist, and a writer for such publications as American Cinematographer, Bitch, Toque, and Variety. She is a regular guest on KCRW’s Good Food. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, and raised in Cupertino, she is an alumnus of the UCLA School of Film & Television.

Lesley Bargar Suter

Bargar Suter, who oversees the dining and food listings in Los Angeles, began her career at the music magazine Filter where she served as a Staff Writer and Associate editor. In 2005, she became Editor-in-Chief for the alternative weekly newspaper L.A. Alternative. While there she oversaw all aspects of its cultural and political coverage, supervised the paper’s transition from bi-weekly to weekly, and orchestrated a full redesign.
